Adverbul romanesc “mai” poate avea mai multe functiuni gramaticale, redandu-se diferit in limba engleza:

Cine mai era acolo? = Who else was there?
Mai da-mi un pahar cu apa. = Give me another glass of water.
Mai citi doua scrisori = He read two more letters.
Mai asteapta o ora = He waited for another hour.
Tocul asta este si mai bun = This pen is still better.
Sa mai ramanem cateva zile = Let us stay here a few days longer.
Nu mai este sare in solnita = There is no more salt in the salt-cellar.
